Domaine des Deux Roches

Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray of the Domaine des Deux Roches are among the "small elite" who have chosen quality over quantity in the Mâconnais. The Domaine plants on high, steep slopes with good exposure. The soil is relatively infertile, shallow, and extremely calcareous.

St Véran, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine des Deux Roches: 60-year-old vines of the Chardonnay grape from six different parcels go into this cuvée. Half the wine is fermented in new oak casks, half in stainless. And the entire cuvée is assembled and aged in older casks for six months prior to bottling in the spring. The resulting wine has the taste and feel, the smokiness and unctuousness, of a fine village wine from MEURSAULT.

St Véran Rives de Longsault, Domaine des Deux Roches: This cuvée of St Veran, 100% from old vines of Chardonnay, highlights the characteristics of the terroir of the commune of Davayé. The village benefits from its hilly contours and moderate altitude with a warm microclimate. The vinification takes place for one-third of the wine in barrels and the rest in stainless steel vats. This is a rich and racy wine, elegant and floral with a golden hue. "Longsault " is the ancient name of a small river on which their cellar is located.

Le Macon Verger des Feuillants, Domaine des Deux Roches: This wine comes from a parcel of old vines of Gamay situated in the village of Charnay les Macon.

The parcels are divided into two parts separated by a small orchard (verger in French) of peach trees, apple trees and plum trees. Oriented to the southwest with a small incline that is both hot and well-drained, the soil is very favorable to the production of a fine and elegant red wine. Aging takes place partially in vat and partially in oak barrels. The wine is characterized by delicate aromas of small red fruits and a round, full structure.
