Our Growers:
Champagne de Vignerons (Cépages de J. Myri) | |
The Groupe S.A. Jean Myri specializes in small champagne growers with quality champagne. These champagne growers are each family-owned estates.
Champagne Thierry Fournier:
Thierry Fournier, after studying oenology, took over the domain of his grandparents and has created a family estate of 10 hectares in the Vallée de la Marne in 4 communes : Festigny, Nesle le respons, Oeuilly and Leuvrigny. The soil is limestone based throughout. Fournier knows how to ally authenticity with contemporary demands to create beautiful champagne. His Blanc de Blancs, from the 2003 harvest, is aged 3 years. Reserve wines make up 35% of the wine assemblage. The champagne is fruity in the nose, intense and well blended. In the mouth, it is powerful, round, well balanced and with the freshness characteristic of this cuvée. It is creamy and opulent with a clean finish. This is a champagne to be enjoyed either as an apéritif or with a meal. Seafood and vegetable dishes go particularly well with a Blanc de Blancs.
Champagne Michel Labbé:
The great-grandparents of Didier Labbé created the domain, located in Chamery, in 1911 during the famous winegrower revolt. Didier studied oenology and took over the family estate in 1975. The domain comprises 10 hectares in the Montagne de Reims in 4 communes : Chamery, Ecueil, Villers aux nœuds and Sermiers. The grapes are grown in premier cru communes in an area that is the best balanced and the most supple in Champagne. The wines produced are very typical of the sector. The Blanc de Noirs is aged 3 years. No wood is used. This is a truly fine Blanc de Noirs. It is a champagne excellent as an apéritif or with a meal. It goes particularly well with full-flavored foods such as meat and cheese.
Champagne Nominé Renard: Champagne Nominé Renard is a family of winegrowers that goes back many generations. The professional know-how handed down from father to son, the constant supervision and working methods adapted to each particular area under vine and prevailing micoclimate all result in the production of champagne in perfect harmony. Year after year, the work is carried out according to tradition and experience. The domain consists of 20 hectares. The vinification of each cru and grape variety is carried out separately. A vertical press, particularly well adapted to the extraction of excellent quality juice, is used. The fermentation takes place in thermostatically-controlled stainless steel vats—stainless steel because it is neutral and does not contaminate the contents with extraneous aromas. The Brut Réserve is pale golden yellow in color with tiny bubbles that persist. The nose is well balanced between dry and fresh fruits (hazelnut, walnut and apricot) with a hint of citrus fruit. In the mouth, the overall impression is one of elegance and style. The wine is full-flavored, with a beautiful harmony right up to the finish. It is a lively, well-balanced wine with an attractive aromatic background. Use this champagne throughout the meal, from apéritif to dessert. It is suitable for a wide variety of dishes. Champagne Renaudin: A castle once stood with large moats, a drawbridge and a mill where the Château des Conardins stands today. The Domaine des Conardins maintains a vestige of this bygone age year after year by vinifying the fruit of the castle’s harvests just as the illustrious lords did centuries ago. The Renaudin family is the successor to the prestigious lineage of the Conardins. The domain covers 24 hectares located on the most coveted slopes of Epernay and the Cote des Blancs. The Brut Réserve, from the 2004 harvest, is typical of the Renaudin production which produces wines of exceptional depth and finesse. Reserve wines make up 15-20% of the wine assemblage. With its beautiful light gold color, the Brut Réserve is full in the mouth and suave. Its full, almost honeyed palate is fresh. It is a well balanced and aromatic wine with a soft touch and persistent bubbles that lead to a long, luxurious finish. Use this champagne for any occasion. Website: http://www.r-renaudin.com/ Champagne Quenardel-Faucomprez:A small grower in the village of Verzenay, Jean Christophe is the fifth generation to make champagne. The domain consists of 8 hectares in 19 parcels spread through 4 villages all classified 100% Grand Cru in the Montagne de Reims. The cellar is more than 200 years old. The old vines are expressed in the character of the Quenardel 1999 Blanc de Blancs. In the nose, there is a mix of mineral notes with white flowers, completed by more fruity aromas (peach, plum). The mouth evokes herb bread and cinnamon. The low dosage of this champagne creates a beautiful finesse; it finishes long and fresh. This is a champagne to be enjoyed either as an apéritif or with a meal. Seafood and vegetable dishes go particularly well with a Blanc de Blancs.
The Faucomprez 1999 Blanc de Noirsis a single bottling of an exceptional champagne. Presented in a blue bottle, the champagne has a powerful nose with notes of brioche, honey and candied fruits. In the mouth, the notes are more spicy with nuances of mint, hazelnut, and fresh walnut. The Pinot Noir grapes bring structure and vinosity to the wine and make for a long finish with a beautiful persistence.
