Domaine des Terrisses is located on the first hillsides facing south-west that one sees when entering the city of Gaillac where the Romans and the Benedictines from the Abbey Saint-Michel (10th century) began cultivating vines long ago. This vineyard, one of the oldest in France, has a charter guaranteeing the quality of the wine that is dated 1271. The soil is clay-limestone and the warm Mediterranean climate is tempered by the influence of the Atlantic Ocean. Seven generations of Cazotte winegrowers in love with their terroir and the making of quality wine have grown grapes here. The grapes are the historical varieties: 80% Lenc de l’El, Mauzac, Braucol and Duras. The wines they produce are pure and typical of their terroir and very aromatic.
Gaillac Mousseux Brut Methode Gaillacoise: This is an effervescent wine made from natural fermentation. It is the natural sugars of the grape varieties Len de L’El and Mauzac which make this wine effervescent. This wine is fruity, fresh, and very elegant. It is perfect as an apéritif.
Domaine des Terrisses Rouge: This wine is typical of the Duras grape with a spicy flavor and elegant tannins and of the Braucol grape with its aromas of red fruits. The Syrah grape brings roundness to the wine. Its structure permits it to age for at least 5-6 years. Pair this wine with red meats, game or cheeses. Serving it in a carafe will heighten its enjoyment.
Domaine des Terrisses Rosé: This wine is produced by the saignée method. It is fruity, supple and light and can accompany any part of a meal.
Domaine des Terrisses Blanc sec: This wine is a wonderful marriage between the Len de l’El which gives a dry white wine with delicate white flower aromas and Mauzac which gives power. The Sauvignon (a very small percentage) brings liveliness and its aromas of full youth to the wine. The wine is fresh, full in the mouth, and supple with intense and persistent fruit aromas. This wine goes well with seafood, fish, white meats, and goat cheeses.
