SDG Selections
Our target is to offer you wine that is terroir-driven from small growers who work as artisans. None of our wine is mass-produced; all of it is lavished with individual attention. Our wines come from small, single family estates where the vignerons have real dirt under their fingernails. Wine is their passion, just as it is yours and ours. In our grower backgrounders, we try to give you a picture of the individual families as well as giving you specific information about where the wines came from and the terroir that drives its taste because their stories definitely flavor the wines. Our frequent visits to our growers are a significant part of what SDG Selections is about: these growers are our friends with whom we have built a loyal working relationship.
The story of SDG selections began in 1989, when Stephen Grant founded a pure agency business to ship small, family-owned estates to North Carolina and eventually elsewhere in the United States. Stephen's aim was to introduce merchants and their clients to the individuality as well as the very high quality of wine from single-family-owned estates in France: wine which benefits from the passion and hands-on quality control that an individual grower, with many generations of family tradition, brings to the farming as well as benefiting from coming from one single place or terroir. |
